Martha Fay Staton
Oskaloosa. Martha "Sally" Staton, 79, of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. She was born April 9, 1946, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Roy "Pete" and Cloie Bertroche Staton. She graduated from Ottumwa High School with the class of 1964. She continued her education at Northeast Missouri State earning her B.A in Physical Education and later earned her master's from Mary Crest College. Sally was a lifelong educator. Early on she taught in various school districts in Illinois and Iowa. She retired from Clinton County School District in 2005 after teaching special education for over 25 years. In retirement she dedicated her time to caring for elderly family members. In 2015, she moved to Oskaloosa to be closer to her family. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Sally enjoyed Bible study and crocheting. She was an animal lover, especially her dogs, but was also known to have cats and birds as pets.
Her family includes her daughter and her husband, Jennifer and Mario Tudor of Columbia, South Carolina; a brother and his wife, Jerry and Sharon Staton of Oskaloosa; nieces and nephews, Kenny, Doug, Janet, Jeff, Wendy, and Stacey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Mary K. Staton; and a brother, Kenneth Staton.
As was Sally's wish her body has been cremated. A private family burial will be held at a later date. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
