Martha Canada-Waynick of Ashland City, TN
October 3, 1935 – March 21, 2021
On Sunday, March 21, 2021, Martha Canada-Waynick, age 85, bid farewell to this world. Born in Clarksville, TN on October 3, 1935 as one of 8 children to parents Benton and Mary Belle Yarbrough she proved to have a fiery and tenacious spirit. Right from the start Martha had her sights on navigating the world on her own terms.
She learned at a very early age that she would not be satisfied working for someone else. So began her lifelong love affair with serial entrepreneurship. Hairdresser, Grocery Store owner, Restaurant owner, Private Duty Nurse, Day Care Owner, Bus Driver, Teacher, Photographer, Real Estate Broker, Licensed Appraiser and on and on and on. She spent her entire life in a constant state of learning something new. These exploits helped to feed her passion for traveling. She traveled and explored this beautiful country of ours every chance she got. She loved taking friends and family along for the ride.
She instilled in all four of her children, Jacquie, Brian, Michele and Billy, an excellent work ethic and the confidence to go after their dreams. She was extremely proud of her children and remained close to them her entire life. Her greatest joy in life came in the form of her 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She cherished every ball game, play, holiday gathering and random visit. Though she will be greatly missed each of her grandchildren have memories to cherish forever of their special time with their Nanny.
All those that knew Martha loved her and she left a permanent impression. Her passing will leave a void in many lives but the pain that is felt now is worth it for the pleasure of having her as part of our lives. Until we meet again.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband of almost 40 years Bernard Canada and her husband of 7 years Bobby Waynick, her parents Benton and Mary Belle Yarbrough, sisters Elizabeth, Sue, Jean, Nell, Lucy and brother Buddy. She is survived by her sister Barbara, children Jacquie (Jay), Brian (Diane), Michele (Kenny) and Billy (Lana), grandchildren Destiny, Katie, Erica, Michael, Will, Heather, Megan, Ashley, Keith, Matthew, Ben, Allyson, DJ, Connor, Nicole, Scarlett, Geoffrey, Cameron, Clinton, Raven, Collin, and Cody and great grandchildren Kaleb, Isaac, Kian & Riley.
Please join us in celebrating a life well lived. Visitation: Boyd Funeral Home 4pm – 7pm and Tuesday 10am to Noon. Service at Noon followed by a brief service at the Veterans Cemetery at 2pm.
