Martin, 83 years of age, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at home with his family by his side.
Martin was born May 29, 1942, in Houston, Texas, to Martin Marion Faktor, Sr., and Katherine Marie Hays Faktor. He graduated from Reagan High School in Houston and then attended Texas A&M University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business. In 1963 he married Mary Lou McNiel, his wife of 62 years. They were blessed with two sons, Charles Nevitt Faktor and Martin John Faktor, II. Martin began his career with Sears Roebuck and Co. as a merchandise manager. He was transferred to several different cities in Texas before being transferred to Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1977. When offered another opportunity to transfer, he chose to stay with Sears in the Shreveport-Bossier area so he could care for his ailing father and because he and his wife had opened the Inspiration Christian Bookstore in Bossier City. For the last many years, he also worked with his close and special friends, the Trippel family whom he greatly appreciated, at Generations Gifts in Bossier City.
Martin and his family were faithful members of Airline Drive Church of Christ. After retiring from Sears, Martin volunteered to mow at the church. He took great pride in keeping the church grounds for more than 30 years. Other special interests included racing homing pigeons, bass fishing, and all things Texas A&M.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Katherine Faktor; his sister, Esta Sue Faktor, and his in-laws, Morgan and Elva McNiel.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Faktor; sons, Charles Faktor and wife, Alana and Martin John Faktor; grandchildren, Garrett Faktor and wife, Katie, Payne Faktor and Adeline Faktor; great-grandchildren, Bear, Sunday, and Cecilia Faktor as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Honoring Martin as pallbearers will be Stanley Brown, Zac Clary, Adeline Faktor, Garrett Faktor, Payne Faktor, Owen Scott, Sumner Scott and Luke Slabaugh.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of Willis Knighton Bossier and Willis Knighton Hospice for their exceptional care and the kindness shown to the entire family.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Bossier KIDS, 2125 Airline Dr., Bossier City, LA 71111.
