It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Martin Romeo Michaud on February 21, 2025, at the age of 89.
Born on August 19, 1935, in Van Buren, Maine, Marty lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to family. A graduate of Central Catholic High School class of 1953, he went on to build a successful career in the food brokerage business, a field he was not only passionate about but remained actively involved in until his passing. He took immense pride in the career he built from the ground up, pouring his heart into every aspect of the business.
Marty was a devoted husband of 50 years to his beloved wife, Pauline Auger Michaud, with whom he built a lifetime of cherished memories. He had an incredible ability to bring people together, whether through his love of dancing, playing Keno, traveling, or simply enjoying the company of his closest friends and family. His home on the Merrimack River was his sanctuary, where he loved hosting family and friends, sharing good food, laughter, and stories that will be told for years to come. He also enjoyed a good trip to the casino, where his warm personality made him a fast friend to anyone he met.
Affectionately known as "Marty," he was a well-loved regular at many local bars and restaurants. If you asked any of the waitstaff, they would likely smile and tell you that they knew all about his beloved family-not because they had met them, but because Marty spoke of them so often. He took immense pride in sharing photos, stories, and cherished memories, his joy evident in every conversation.
Marty found his greatest happiness in being a grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, a role he embraced with endless love and pride. He is survived by his children, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts: Marc Michaud and his wife, Bonnie, of Rancho Cucamonga, California; Darlyne Michaud, of Methuen, Massachusetts; Michael Michaud and his wife, Angelica, of Newburyport, Massachusetts; and Kathy Thomas and her husband, Jason, of Windham, New Hampshire. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Michael, Corey, Candace, Amanda, Tyler, Nicole, Cody, Taylor, Ashleigh, Clayton, and Jake, as well as his six great-grandchildren, Audrey, James, Elliot, Vance, Lucas and Opal, who brought him so much happiness.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Pauline, as well as his brothers, Richard Michaud and Michael Michaud. His brother, Dennis Michaud and his wife Janice, remain to carry on his memory. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Lynn Michaud of Marblehead, Massachusetts.
Marty's life was one of warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His presence brought light to every room, and his kindness left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A service to honor and celebrate Marty's life will be held on Thursday, February 27th from 4-7PM at Pollard Funeral Home in Methuen, Massachusetts. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Marty's life.
The family deeply appreciates the love and support during this difficult time and finds comfort in knowing that Marty's legacy of love, laughter, and friendship will continue to shine through the lives he touched.
