Bloomington – Mary Alice Crubel, age 95 of Bloomington, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 30, 1930, the daughter of James and Mathilda (Pottebaum) Meyers. Mary Alice was united in marriage to Milo A. Crubel on January 25, 1951, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glen Haven, WI. Together they farmed on the Crubel family farm in Patch Grove Township, where they raised their family and had dairy and beef cattle. Mary Alice milked cows until she was almost eighty years old. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She lovingly raised her eleven children and was a very involved and caring grandmother. Grandma C. was always happy to see her grandchildren and follow their various activities. She was very thoughtful and had a great gift for remembering people’s names, sending cards for birthdays and special occasions. Mary Alice was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington. Some of her favorite hobbies were playing cards/games, reading, doing puzzles, cooking, sewing and gardening. Mary Alice will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
Mary Alice is survived by her children: Diane (Dale) Kruger, Doreen (Brent) Hoffman, David (Marsha) Crubel, Denise (Dale) Breuer, Debra (David) Drew, Delaine (Paul) Langmeier, Daryl Crubel, Dayle Crubel, Dawn (Steve) Mumm, and Douglas Crubel; 26 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barb Krohn; three sisters-in-law: Barb Meyers, Mary Ann Crubel and Ruth Crubel and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Milo; son, Daniel; siblings: Jerry Meyers, Florence (Tom) Adrian, Julia (Jim) Bernhardt, Mona (Alois) Kirschbaum, and Stanley Meyers. In-laws: Geraldine Esser, Marcus Krohn, Art (Ruth) Crubel, Harold (Carolyn) Crubel, LaVerne Crubel, Norma (George) Smrcina, and Roger Crubel.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 11: 30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father Sudhakar Devarapu officiating. Private family burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home and Crematory of Bloomington is assisting the family. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Mary Alice Crubel memorial fund has been established.
