Mary Karen Kemmer, age 78, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the JAG Healthcare in Orrville, Ohio. She was born on May 5, 1947, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, the daughter of Elmer and Dorothy (Schlairet) Kempton.
Mary retired as an auditor for the Kenyon Inn in Gambier and volunteered as a Hospice volunteer. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and spent many years exploring the family genealogy.
She is survived by her two daughters, Holly (Matthew) Muster of Delaware and Kimberly (Robert Pogras) Turner of Orrville, Ohio, two grandchildren, Justine Spellman and Angel (Logan) Kimbrell, nine great grandchildren, Serina, Regan, Madison, Levi, Marley, Alaina, Lily, Marcus, and Layla, four brothers, Stanley (Francis) Kempton, Kenneth (Susan) Kempton, William (Jennifer) Kempton, and Robert Kempton, two sisters, Martha Jean Gavin, and Marjorie Ann (David) Grubaugh.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Philip Kempton, and a great grandson, Preston.
The family will observe a private service at a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Mary Karen Kemmer.
