Mary Louise Rester Kirkland, 89, of White Oak passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Kirkland was born February 6, 1935 in Picayune, Mississippi to the late Roscoe Rester and Easter Odom Rester. She was a licensed Cosmetologist and Beautician and owned her own shop for many years in Gladewater. Mrs. Kirkland enjoyed cooking, gardening and painting. She was also very involved with her church and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at both White Oak Baptist Church and Greggton Baptist Church. Mary will be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and devoted homemaker.
She is survived by two children Ed Kirkland of White Oak and Angela Thomas of White Oak; two grandchildren Brittany Epps and husband Jeremy of White Oak and Blake Clampitt of Gilmer; four great grandchildren Ava Still, Kraddack, Annrie Epps and Kinslee Clampitt; two brothers Conrad Rester and wife Rhonda of New Jersey and David Rester of Picayune, Mississippi.
Preceding her in death are her parents Roscoe and Easter Rester, husband and lifelong companion Elvin Kirkland and siblings Hayward Rester and wife Dorothy, Terry Rester and wife Ruby, Margie Sparks, Christine Lee and husband Robert, Pat Dale and sister-in-law Jane Rester.
Service for Mrs. Kirkland will be held at the Mausoleum at Lakeview Memorial Gardens on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM with Chaplain Ralph Johnson officiating.
