Mary Meyer Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Mary 'Dottie' M. (Miceli) Meyer, 98, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 15, 2025 surrounded by her family. A joyful, generous, and intelligent woman, she lived her life with faith, purpose, and deep devotion to those she loved.
She was a proud graduate of Louisville Girls High School and went on to attend the University of Louisville, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1950. She was a dedicated member of Kappa Delta Sorority, serving as president. She began her professional career with Eastern Airlines as a Chief Agent before devoting herself to her home and family.
Her passion for horses led her to life on a horse farm in Simpsonville, Kentucky-"Burning Tree Farm"-where she and her late husband bred and raised American Saddlebred horses. Over the years she owned multiple Saddlebreds, and celebrated three world championship horses.
For nearly 50 years, she faithfully attended water aerobics, embracing the community and activity it brought her. She was an avid University of Louisville sports fan. She was a loving grandma and great-grandma who delighted in puzzles, reading, and lunches with friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Dorothy Salerno Miceli; her husband William George Meyer, Jr.; her infant daughter, Mary; and her brother, Sam Miceli.
She is survived by her children: Bill Meyer (Becky), Kathy Edlin (Larry), and Greg Meyer (Susan); her sister, Nellie Hartnett; her grandchildren: Bill Meyer (Danielle), Chris Meyer (Megan), Ashton Platt (Nick), Angela Fitzgerald (Ian), and Allison Edlin; her great-grandchildren: Liam, Emma, and Caroline Meyer, Banks and Ella James Fitzgerald, along with many other family members and friends who will all miss her dearly.
Visitation will be from 12:00pm – 2:00pm, Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Ratterman Brothers, East Louisville (12900 Shelbyville Road) with funeral service to begin at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Home of the Innocents.
