Mary H. Schneider, 64, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025 following a courageous 9 month battle with lung cancer. She was born in Canton, Ohio on December 23, 1960, to Edward and Jean Eibel. She lived in Lake Wylie, SC for over 38 years.
Mary was an accountant and manager working for Jack Henry and Associates in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she dedicated her career for over 25 years. Prior to that she was a tax preparer and office manager for H&R Block in Gastonia, North Carolina.
Beyond her professional life, she revelled in experiencing the world on two wheels and cherished the many friendships forged on the open road. She was a vested member of the Guardians of The Children, a motorcycle organization dedicated to child abuse awareness and prevention. She left a profound impact on nearly everything she touched and was known by so many by very different names. To her children's schoolmates, she was "the cool chaperone" and "the lady without shoes" who often chose comfort over convention. To her friends and neighbors, she was a perceptive listener and a staunch supporter. To a large contingent of her community, she was "the tax lady" who helped many of them file for decades. To the Guardians of the Children, she was "Scarecrow" who was typically eager to share her ideas that occasionally lacked sound logic. To the many people she rode motorcycles with, she was known for her trailblazing routes, fueled by an adventurous and often unpredictable spirit. To everyone who knew her, she was a boundless source of happiness and love - a selfless soul who always found a way to give.
Mary is survived by Patrick, her husband of 40 years, and their sons Shawn (Amanda) Schneider and Alex (Megan) Schneider, grandchildren Stella and Siena, brother Mark Eibel, several nieces and nephews, and two very spoiled dogs Fred and George. She was predeceased by her parents and her siblings Chuck Eibel, Ron Eibel, and Judy Eibel.
A private family service will be held. A celebration of life event for all of her friends and family is being planned for the spring of 2026 in Gastonia, NC - details will be available via social media as arrangements are made. Memorial contributions in memory of Mary may be made to Gateway House of Peace in Milton, NY, where she spent her final days under the care of staff and volunteers who share her passion for giving. You can shed tears that she is gone, Or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back, Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see her, Or you can be full of the love that you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her and only that she is gone, Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. -David Harkins
