Mary John Thomas, 96, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on December 25, 2025, surrounded by family.

Mrs. Thomas was the former Mary John Robinson. She was born on October 18, 1929, in Augusta, Georgia, and was the daughter of the late Alton Stanley Robinson and John H. Robinson of Newnan.

She was an honor graduate of Newnan High School in 1946 and attended the University of Georgia. She was employed by Coweta Mutual Fire Insurance Company of Newnan for 38 years and was Secretary-Treasurer of the company from 1989 until her retirement in 1997. She was also the owner and operator of Coweta Insurance Agency in Newnan.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newnan since 1940 and worked in the Sunday School Department for over 55 years.

She is survived by her children, Stan Thomas of Montgomery, AL; Terri Thomas & Randy Tomlin of Newnan; Billy & Dawn Thomas of Newnan; her grandchildren, Ally Thomas & Will Thomas of Newnan; Caroline & Joe Farrow of Daytona Beach, FL, Jessi Tomlin of St. Petersburg, FL, Dylan & Hayden Tomlin of Newnan and great grandchild Parker Tomlin; her sisters, Linda Blancett of Wilmington, DE and Teddi Smith of Charleston, WV; her brother Johnny and Becky Robinson of Sandy Springs, GA; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Jill R. Ulbrich of Dayton, OH, Patricia R. Ulbrich of Arvada, CO and Marjorie R. Wilson of Mt. Airy, NC.

Visitation will be held at McKoon Funeral Home on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from noon until 2 p.m. with the funeral service following in the chapel at 2 p.m. with Chip Gordon officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in her memory to the First Baptist Church of Newnan, 15 West Washington Street, Newnan, GA.
