Mary Jane Thorgersen

Mary Jane Thorgersen, age 72, was called to heaven on Friday, May 20, 2022. Mary Jane was born on January 19, 1950, in Milwaukee, WI, daughter to the late Ignatius and Josephine (D'Acquisto) Balistreri. Mary Jane married Thor Thorgersen on May 30, 1970, at St. Monica Catholic Church in Whitefish Bay. After relocating to the Appleton area, Mary Jane worked in the Appleton Area School District for over 20 years. She worked at Lincoln Elementary and Janet Berry during her time with AASD. She was active at the church she loved so much, Appleton Community Evangelical Free Church, where she enjoyed volunteering and playing the organ.
Mary Jane is survived by her husband of 51 years, Thor Thorgersen; children: Thor (Wendy) Thorgersen; Julie (Stephen) O'Connor, Michael (Jim Dendy) Thorgersen; grandchildren: Drue Thorgersen, Thor Thorgersen, Zachary Zaborowski, Aubri Vowell and Jenna Vowell; siblings: Ted (Christine) Balistreri and Stephen (Patricia) Balistreri; father-in-law, Thor Thorgersen
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ignatius and Josephine Balistreri and her mother-in-law, Dorothy Thorgersen and her grandson, Andrew Zaborowski.
A memorial service for Mary Jane will be held at 11:00 AM at Appleton Community Evangelical Free Church (2490 W Capitol Dr., Appleton) on Saturday, May 28, 2022. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until the time of service. A luncheon will be held following at Wichmann Funeral Home (537 N. Superior St., Appleton).
