Maryann Hannigan Monahan passed away peacefully at her home in Narragansett, RI on September 13, 2024, at the age of 81.
She was born July 9, 1943, in Mount Vernon, NY, to Mary and Ralph Annechiarico. She graduated from A.B. Davis High School in 1961 and attended Hunter College before starting her career at General Foods. There, a colleague (and future brother-in-law) would introduce her to her first love, Francis Hannigan. They wed on October 11, 1969, and made a home in White Plains, NY where they raised their daughter.
Maryann would return to college as an adult to complete her degree, graduating from Mercy College in 1983. She then began working for the March of Dimes, where she remained until her retirement in 2001.
Following the untimely passing of her first husband at the age of 55, and her subsequent retirement, Maryann moved to Narragansett, RI to enjoy life in the Ocean State.
She was blessed to find love again and married her second husband, Denis Monahan, on September 11, 2010. Together they enjoyed travelling, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
Maryann will be lovingly remembered as a strong, compassionate, meticulous woman with great conviction, abiding faith, and a strong moral compass.
She is survived by her husband, Denis, her daughter, Elizabeth Hannigan Powers, her grandchildren, Logan and Molly Powers, and an adored sister, Linda (John) Holgerson. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement.
