Marylin A. Mazza, 86, of
Marlboro, NY passed away November 27, 2025 at home after a long illness. Born on May 22, 1939 in Queens, NY to Margaret (Hug) and Jacob "Jack" Eger who predeceased her. She is also predeceased by her step-mother Emily Katzenberger Eger; her husband John Mazza, her infant sister Johanna Mary Eger, her infant daughter Donna Mazza, and her sister Florence Catterson.
Surviving are her children: John Jr. (Marie) of Marlboro, Linda (Pete) of Monument, CO, her son Steven (Grace) of
Marlboro, NY and her daughter, Marylin "Whiz" of Scottsdale, AZ., her grandsons, John III (Kaitlyn) Orange Lake, NY, Jacob "Jack" (Kimberly) of Marlboro, James (Nikki) of Saratoga Springs NY, and Steven Jr. of Marlboro, many nieces, nephews, cousins and five Great Grandchildren.
Aside from the time and energy Marylin gave to her family and friends, she also donated many hours to her community. She was president and treasurer of the Marlboro Elementary and Middle School PTOs, treasurer of the Marlboro Swim Club, volunteered at the Sloop Clearwater Pumpkin Festival, supported the Amodeo Productions and Marlboro High School Drama Clubs, served several years as an AARP 55 Alive Driving Instructor, spent many Saturday mornings at the Kaplan Hospice Residence, was active at Union Presbyterian Church as an Elder, a Vacation Bible School assistant, worked at the annual Rummage Sale, the Harvest/Halloween party for the children and other church events.
Marylin had varied work experience. She began while she was still in high school at the American Kennel Club in Manhattan moving to the Metropolitan Life Insurance Home Office after graduating from Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood Queens. Once her children were old enough, she returned to the work force as a Computer Aide in the Marlboro Elementary School developing many of the first teaching programs used there. She was the Secretary for Union Church. Following that she went to work for Dr. Henry Baum as his Office Manager where she spent 20 years. She finished her working years at Curves of Marlboro where she made many friends. During this time she decided to earn her Liberal Arts Degree and achieved academic excellence.
Marylin & John were avid travelers. They visited all 7 continents, and all 50 states. Their RV was the love of their life. In their golden years they crisscrossed Canada, the United States, Mexico and all of Central America. However, their favorite trips were with their "beastly" grandsons, John, Jack and Jim and later their grandson, Steven. Photography was a natural addition to their travels. She documented all of their travels and family activities through the lens of her camera. She leaves behind numerous picture albums that she lovingly created.
The family would like to thank Hudson Valley Hospice for all the help and support, with a special thank you to Mom's hospice nurse, Brianna. Donations may be made in Marylin's memory to Hudson Valley Hospice, 374 Violet Ave, Poughkeepsie NY 12601 (https://www.hvhospice.org/donate-now)
