Matthew John Bonesteel Sr.

Matthew John Bonesteel, Sr., 56, of Windsor, beloved husband for 36 years of Donna Jane Bonesteel, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Hartford Hospital. Born in Springfield, MA on October 13, 1965, son of the late Claud Edward and Barbara M. (Stone) Bonesteel, he was raised in East Granby and was a graduate of New Life Christian Academy, Class of 1982. After high school Matthew enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served four years until his honorable discharge as a Lance Corporal in July 1988. After his discharge he returned to Connecticut and trained to be a tractor trailer driver. He worked in trucking for many years before taking a position with Specialty Steel in East Granby as a supervisor on the third shift. Due to his health, Matthew was forced to retire early just a few years ago. He was a member of Ministries of Love and Hope in Enfield.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons, Timothy John Bonesteel and Matthew John Bonesteel, Jr. both of Windsor, and Nathaneal Donald Bonesteel of Somers; four siblings, Charlie Bonesteel of Florida, Nancy McKenzie of Tolland, James Bonesteel and his wife Evelyn of Florida, and Tim Bonesteel and his wife Lynn of Somers; and 12 nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Richard Edward Bonesteel.
His family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 11, 11 a.m.-12 Noon, followed by a funeral service at 12 Noon, in the chapel of the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor with Pastor Samuel Swift officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in East Granby.
