Christian Biography of Matt Carpenter
Matthew Kenneth Carpenter comfortably passed on August 6th, 2024 surrounded by family and friends after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Matt was born on August 29th, 1986 in Lubbock, TX, to Terry and Julie (Reed) Carpenter. Matt met Brittany (Bruening) in 2012 and it was love at first sight (despite her choice of first date attire). They were married a few short years later on June 7, 2014. Their union was blessed with two sons, Wyatt (born 2017) and Barrett (born 2020). Although their time was cut entirely too short, they packed more love into those ten years than you could in ten lifetimes.
Matt and Brittany moved from Colorado to Superior, NE in 2020 where they built a beautiful life together with their two sons, many friends, and a wealth of Bruening family close by (sorry Matt). His family visited often and their house was always full of love and laughter. He would drop everything to help anyone in need. And some of us were really needy! Matty, as he was loving called, was known to all by his smile. You can ask anyone who has ever met him and they'll ALWAYS comment on that smile. It was infectious. It was genuine. It was selfless. Just like him.
Matt loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing, and golfing. He enjoyed woodworking in his spare time and had a love for music like no other. Nothing meant more to Matt than Husker Football, er his family. Yes, nothing meant more to Matt than his family. He passed on his passions to his boys and we are all so lucky to see that in them every day. Matt and Brittany are truly soul mates, undoubtedly a once in a lifetime kind of love. She always called him "her person" and that was nothing short of the truth. They completed each other in every way, and he will be missed ever-so-deeply.
Matt is survived by his wife Brittany, sons Wyatt and Barrett of Superior, NE, parents Terry (Suzie) Carpenter of San Francisco, CA, and Julie (Deryn) Buntrock of Trinity, TX, his brother Cameron (Jenay) Carpenter of Albuquerque, NM, sister Skye Carpenter of San Diego, CA, sister-in-law Rachel (Zach) Loucks of Superior, NE, parents-in-law Steve and Becky Bruening of Superior, NE, and a host of family and friends.
Matt will continue to live on through the memories of his laughter, his altruism, his tenacity, his sense of humor (man, he was funny) and, of course, that infectious smile that he blessed both of his sons with.
