Matthew "Matt" Robert Flaherty, 49, of Erlanger, KY, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Born on February 7, 1976, to Jerry and Nancy Flaherty, Matt was a lifelong Northern Kentucky resident. A proud graduate of St. Henry High School, Class of 1995, Matt went on to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy, where he served honorably during the Gulf War era. Deeply committed to his community, Matt volunteered as a firefighter with the City of Elsmere and was a former member of St. Benedict's Parish. Most recently, he was an active parishioner at St. Henry Catholic Church. A hardworking entrepreneur, Matt was the past owner and operator of Flaherty Lawn Care. Matt had a warm and outgoing spirit-he never met a stranger and was known for his big heart, infectious laughter, and deep devotion to his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with his children, Riley and Ryan, who were the pride of his life. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Lucille Mueller, and Robert and Mary Flaherty. Matt is survived by his loving children, Riley and Ryan Flaherty; his devoted parents, Jerry and Nancy Flaherty; his brothers, Michael Flaherty and Kevin Flaherty; niece, Sloane; and nephew, Connor. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Henry Catholic Church in Elsmere, KY. Burial with Military Honors will immediately follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, KY. In lieu of flowers, donations in Matt's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
