Matthew Allen Williams

Matthew Allen Williams, age 40, of Strafford, MO, passed away on July 2, 2025, at Cox South Hospital. Matt was born to Dana and Pamela (Ray) Williams on February 21, 1985, in Springfield, MO. He was raised in Strafford and graduated from Strafford High School in 2004.
Matt was employed as a groundskeeper and maintenance worker with Strafford Schools for the past several years. When he wasn't working, Matt enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Bulls; but just about nothing brought him more fulfillment than cheering on the Strafford Indians and Lady Indian teams. Along with sports, Matt loved going to the lake and spending time with his family. Matt will be remembered for his joyful, happy-go-lucky personality and the way he always greeted everyone with a smile and asked about their day. He truly brightened everyone's day.
Matt was preceded in death by his maternal grandma, Jean Ray; maternal grandpa, Joe Ray; paternal great-grandpa, Cliff Williams; and a cousin, Rachel Marie Gilmartin. He is survived by his parents, Dana and Pam Williams; his best friend and brother, Bradley Williams; grandparents, Mike and Carol Williams; along with many aunts and uncles who adored him dearly. Among them are Gloria White, Ron and Debbie Ray, Melissa and Don Gilmartin, Kim and Les DeLuce, and Karrie and Colby Rozell. Matthew is also survived by a very special cousin, Abigail Gilmartin; and a host of other cousins who shared in his joyful spirit.
A visitation for Matt will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2025, from 2:00-5:00 pm, at Strafford High School Gymnasium, in Strafford, MO. A graveside service for Matt will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 2:00 pm, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery located at 12107 N Farm Rd 221, Fair Grove, MO.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Matt's memory to Champion Athletes of the Ozarks located at 1715 South Kansas Ave., Springfield, MO 65807.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, MO.
