Maynard R. Konitzer, 86, of Green Bay, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Saturday evening, July 13, 2024. He was born on December 24, 1937 in Green Bay, son of the late Martin and Edna (Busse) Konitzer. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished grandfather. Throughout his life, Maynard worked tirelessly to provide for his family, retiring from FMC Hudson Sharp after 35 years of dedicated service. Maynard proudly served his country in the Army Reserves from 1957 to 1963.
Maynard was a graduate of Green Bay East High School. In July of 1959 he married Donna McCarrell. The couple was looking forward to celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary later this month. Maynard found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, water skiing, camping, and even downhill skiing well into his 80s. His competitive spirit shone through in games like sheepshead, cribbage, and 500 rummy, which he loved playing with family and friends.
For two decades, Maynard and Donna served as camp-hosts at Peninsula State Park, creating lasting memories for countless visitors. He found community in his church, greeting visitors and participating in the choir. In the springtime, Maynard could be found in his element, crafting maple syrup with friends and making Door County cherry wine. Music was another great love of his; he played the accordion and relished attending gatherings with the accordion club, in addition to live music events with his family.
Maynard will be remembered for his infectious laughter, his zest for life, and his unwavering faith. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, joy, and a deep love for those around him.
