Melanie Lee Overley, 71, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 in her Mohnton residence. She was the loving wife of Timothy L. Overley, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ruth (Gaston) Hiester. A graduate of Governor Mifflin High School class of 1971, Melanie worked a variety of jobs throughout the years, but what she loved the most was taking time off to be a stay-at-home mother for her children.
The heart of her family, she spent countless hours supporting her children's and grandchildren's many activities. Melanie enjoyed the beach, tending her amazing gardens, riding on the back of a Harley, sharing her infectious sense of humor and spending time with a special group of lifelong friends.
Left to treasure her memory are husband, Tim; sons, Shawn P., husband of Kristen, Cumru Twp. and Timothy S., husband of Jennifer, Shillington; her pride and joy grandsons: Dylan, Jaxon, Cameron, and Rylan; and brother, Scott Hiester, Arizona. Melanie is also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends she thought of as family. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Erin R. Overley, and brother, Thomas Hiester.
A Celebration of Melanie's Life will take place on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Beverly Hills Tavern, 710 Old Fritztown Rd in Sinking Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in Melanie's honor.
