Melvin Bailey, 76, of Ada Oklahoma, passed away February 6, 2024. Melvin was born in Roswell, New Mexico on March 10, 1947 to Jesse Bailey and Thelma Lee (Chapman) Bailey. He married the love of his life Delories Jane on March 18, 1967 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and together they happily and proudly raised their two girls, Doris and Tammy. The couple shared many beautiful years and memories together until her passing in January of 2006. Melvin was a very hardworking man who dedicated thirty-five years of his life to his career in the oil field at Shebester, of which he was justifiably proud of. Not only was he a hard worker in the oilfield, when Melvin was back home, you could always find him in the garden. He loved growing potatoes, tomatoes, okra and so much more, but in his later years, the painstaking work of tending a full garden had become too much for Melvin, and he decided it was time to hang the rake and shovel up. Melvin was a honest, dedicated, loving and caring man, he will be missed by all of those who were blessed enough to have met him.
Melvin is preceded in death by his father Jesse Bailey, his mother Themla Bailey, his wife Delories Jane Bailey, his son Melvin Bailey Jr., his oldest brother James Bailey, his oldest sister Lois Harrington, sister Bernice Harrington, brother Buck Bailey, and his brother Emil Bailey.
Melvin is survived by his daughters, oldest Doris Bailey, and youngest Tammy Brannon, and his only granddaughter Jessica Lynn Brannon.
Graveside services will be held at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada, Oklahoma on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 10:00AM.
