Melvin B. Bolt, son of S. Guy and Lillie M. (McMurray) Bolt, was born on July 30, 1931.
He passed away peacefully on August 7, 2024.
His childhood was spent in hot, humid weather near East Chattanooga, TN and he thoroughly enjoyed those types of days in Ohio.
On August 17, 1973 he married Mary Ellen and obtained a ready-made family. She preceded him in death in 2010. Also passing before him were his siblings, Alvin, Charles, and Martha Ann. His brother Paul survives.
Mel was proud of many things and among them were working his way through college, his (and Mary Ellen's) involvement in the Ohio Bluebird Society (both honored with the prestigious Blue Feather Award), making wood items in his shop (such as bluebird houses, sparrow traps, toys, and building sets for WACPAC- it seems there wasn't anything he couldn't fix or build) but he was especially proud of his "daughters" Ann and Kara.
Many stories were shared of his childhood and of his work career (the majority of which was spent at Crown Steel).
He was very appreciative of recently turning 93 years old-often saying he had a marvelous life.
Per his wishes, services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster.
Private or public condolences may be shared with the family at: www.custerglenn.com.
Donations in his memory can be made to Aultman Compassionate Care Center, 2821 Woodlawn Ave. NW, Canton, OH 44708 or to the Ohio Bluebird Society, The Holden Arboretum, 9500 Sperry Road, Kirtland, OH 44094 To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Melvin B. Bolt, please visit our Tree Store.
