Mercedes "Mert" Shelling, age 78, entered eternal rest on Thursday, November 6, 2025. Daughter of the late Alonzo Shelling Sr. and Mercedes Shelling. Spouse of the late Leroy Carter. Mother of Penny Jones (Gregory), Michelle Audrict (Corey), Ungel Shelling, and the late Leroy Shelling. Sister to Delores Frank, Gloriajean Smith (Sid), Sheila Ceasar, Sharon Shelling, Cassandra Dixon (Michael), George Shelling, Donald Lionel Shelling, Walter Shelling, Keith Shelling (Rita), and David Shelling (Janet). Sister-in-law of Centrell Carter-Brown and Chevelle Carter. She is survived by 6 grandchildren, Ariane Polk, Corey Audrict, Jasmine Shelling, Ceyonce Audrict, Jade Copelin and Jordan Copelin, 7 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Catherine Smith Villiere, and Diane Shelling, brothers, Alonzo Shelling Jr., Boyd Shelling, and Charles Shelling.
