Mrs. Althea Latimore passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. Born in New Orleans on October 21,1932, Mrs. Latimore was the cherished daughter of the late Fred Williams and the late Marie H. Matthews, and the beloved stepdaughter of Pleasant S. Matthews Sr. Mrs. Latimore graduated from Gilbert Academy, affiliated with Dillard University and graduated from Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. where she studied Education. She was married to the late Jack V. Latimore of Dayton Ohio. She was a lifetime member of Union Bethel AME Church, where she served as church secretary for 50 years. She was preceded in death by her son Jon V. Latimore, sister Frederica W. McGhee, brother, Pleasant S. Matthews Jr. She leaves to mourn three children: Bennetta Latimore, Florence L. Alexander and James Latimore (Mareta) of Garland, Tx. Eleven grandchildren: Michael Thomas (Danisha), Clifton Thomas, Leatrice Latimore Jones (Tyrone), April Donato (Jay), Nadia Latimore, Chauntella Blackwell, Jamal Williams, Jon Latimore Jr. Ongel Latimore, Lonnie Harrell and Tabauchgrick Harrell. Sister-in-law: Elizabeth Harris of Houston, Tx. Also survived by thirty-eight great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration of Life Service for Althea Latimore on Saturday November 22, 2025, for 12:00 noon. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Union Bethel AME Church 2321 Thalia Street, New Orleans, LA. Rev. Keith J. Sanders, Pastor officiating. Interment: Mt. Olivet Cemetery. 4000 Norman Mayer Ave. New Orleans, La. 70122.
