Michael Busselle

Michael Thomas "Lumpy" Busselle, 75, of Nederland, died Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Parkwood in the Pines, Lufkin. He was born April 2, 1947, in Lufkin, to Joyce Nannette Houdoire Busselle and Thomas William Busselle.
Mike was a United States Army veteran. He served as an Airborne Ranger and was part of an elite Pathfinder unit while deployed in Vietnam, having scored a perfect score of 100 in Pathfinder school. The war engrained in Mike an ability to think calm under pressure, which he put to use later in his life to help others and his children when in jeopardy.
After the war, Mike worked as a truck driver, a hair stylist, and most recently a welder and master fabricator. He was a talented individual.
In his younger years, Mike had a passion for windsurfing and served as the president of the wind surfing club on Pleasure Island. As the years went on, he always had a love for nature and the outdoors, with interests in hunting, camping, fishing, and sailing.
Mike was also a voracious reader of both fiction and non-fiction that gave him a vast knowledge on an array of subjects and helped foster a deep appreciation for all cultures and life around the world.
Survivors include his children, Christopher Busselle, Holly Breen Olds, and Michael Busselle; sister-in-law, Tina Agee; nephews, Tommy, George, and David Busselle; great-nephew, Elijah Busselle; and ex-wife and caretaker, Jeannie Busselle.
He is preceded in death by his parents and beloved siblings, Pat Busselle and Lisa Busselle.
A gathering of Mr. Busselle's family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2022, at Broussard's, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard's Crematorium, Beaumont.
