Michael A. La Magna

Michael A. La Magna, 70, died in Freehold, New Jersey on July 23, 2024. Michael was born on October 7, 1953 in Brooklyn, New York. He attended Newtown High School and graduated in 1971. Michael received a Bachelor of Arts degree from C.W. Post College in Greenvale, New York and enjoyed a long career at New York Life, Bowne & Co., and Merck Pharmaceuticals. He and his beloved wife Denise settled in Freehold, New Jersey and raised their children there.
Michael was an avid reader and chef. He enjoyed spending summers by his pool. He was quick with a joke and his laughter filled every room. There was no greater joy in Michael's life than spending time with friends and family - his meticulous preparations for the traditional Christmas Eve "Feast of the Seven Fishes" were a perfect example of this joy, sharing a meal and his home with friends and family.
Michael was blessed to meet his newborn granddaughter, Evelyn Jean La Magna, before he passed.
Michael was predeceased by his father, Eugene La Magna, his mother Emily Romeo La Magna, his brother Eugene La Magna, and his brother-in-law John Jacobsen, Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Denise E. La Magna, of Freehold, New Jersey; his son, Matthew La Magna, his wife, Cassondra La Magna, and their daughter Evelyn, of Fairfax, Virginia; and his daughter Jenna La Magna and her partner, David McKurth of Old Bridge, New Jersey.
He is also survived by his brother, Frank La Magna; his sister Ann Macchia and her husband, Lorenzo; his brother Thomas La Magna and his wife, Mary; his sister-in-law Francine Jacobsen; his beloved nieces and nephews, Caroline Berdzik and her husband, TJ; Frank J. La Magna, and his wife, Suzi; John Jacobsen, Jr. and his wife, Laura; Stefanie Robbins and her husband, Mark; Lori La Magna; Keri La Magna and her partner Matt Koopmann; Alissa Licata and her husband, John; Michael La Magna and his wife, Diana; John Macchia; Alexandra Reyes and her husband, Gabriel; Alyssa La Magna; Thomas La Magna, Jr.; and 14 great nieces and nephews: Julia, Connor, Emily, Henry, Lorenzo, Siena, Fiona, Giovanni, Mason, Leonardo, Maela, Joseph, Riley, and Luke.
He will be deeply missed by these relatives, and the countless lives he touched.
A wake will be held at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, New Jersey on Friday, July 26th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold, New Jersey on Saturday, July 27th at 8:30am.
