Michael P. Noonan, 82, lifelong of Bradford, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at High Pointe Hospice House, after a brief illness.
He was born in Haverhill on March 6, 1941, son of the late George and Anna (Marcelonis) Noonan. He was the beloved brother of the late Mary McElroy Allen, Gerard Noonan, Patricia Labbe, and Catherine Federico, and father-in-law to the late Cynthia Noonan.
Michael graduated from Sacred Hearts Grammar School, Central Catholic High School and attended Merrimack College. He was employed in Telecommunications for nearly 40 years. He worked as an Engineering Aide and a Materials Management Analyst, retiring from Lucent Technologies in 2001. While there, he served as treasurer of CWA Union local 1366.
He was married for 57 years to the love of his life, Marylou (Gioioso) and together they raised three amazing sons: Michael J., (his wife Joel), David G., and the late Stephen T. Noonan.
Michael was an avid golfer and for several years ran a Lucent golf team at Merrimack Valley Golf Course and was a New England sports fan. His interests included golfing, fishing, and reading mystery and detective novels.
The role Mike enjoyed most was that of proud "Papa" to his six adoring grandchildren: Joshua, Keren, Jonathan, Daniel, Jason, and Joy Noonan. His mantra was "Grandpa is my name; spoiling is my game."
Michael is survived by siblings Therese Zartarian, Anne Sarbanis, Joseph Noonan and several nieces and nephews.
At the Michael's request, services were privately held at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St. Interment was in the Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford.
Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Vincent's Society, c/o Sacred Hearts Parish ("Neighbors helping neighbors" in the memo), 48 Chestnut St. Bradford, MA or to Veteran's charity of donor's choice.
