Michael Petito known as "Pa" to all who knew him, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on January 14, 2025. He was 103 years old, just 7 weeks shy of his 104th birthday. Michael was born and raised in Stamford CT. to his parents Josephine Perrone and John Petito on March 4, 1921.
At the age of 19 Michael joined the Army the 3rd Infantry Division, serving in WWII from 1940 - 1945. He proudly served his country and was Honorably Discharged after enlisting twice to fight for his country. He received two purple hearts, two bronze stars, the combat infantry award and many other awards and citations. He went on to marry Mary Telesco of Stamford CT and blessed to be married for seventy-three years.
Michael's passion for golf at an early age led him to a semi-pro career winning him many championships three of which were City Champ at Hubbard Heights Gold Course in Stamford. He loved working outdoors, going to the casino, watching the Mets and New England Patriots.
Michael is pre-deceased by his wife Mary, sisters Mary Loglisci, Anna Russo, Francis Catugno, Catherine Petito, Helen Baber and brother Stanley Eaetano. Also pre-deceased by his two sons-in-law, Salvatore LoBalbo, Sr, and Michael J. Guarnieri.
Michael is survived by his two daughters of Stamford, Diane LoBalbo and Michele Guarnieri, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Michael was a very quiet man with a heart of gold, a sense of humor and always smiling. He will be remembered for cooking the traditional Christmas chestnuts on the stove which filled the house with a holiday feel, and making the most delicious salad. Michael was a great man and lived a full life and will be missed very much.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 21st from 9am to 11am, with a prayer service at 11am at Bosak Funeral Home 453 Shippan Avenue, Stamford, CT. Entombment will follow at St. John Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue in Darien, CT.
