Michael Paul Ridge, MD
On Sunday September 15, 2024, Michael Paul Ridge, MD, long-time Casa Grande resident and area physician passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by all of his family and loved ones.
Michael was born on August 11, 1952 in Davenport, Iowa to Paul and Judy Ridge. He grew up in San Mateo, California. He completed his pre-medical studies at the University of San Francisco where he graduated Cum Laude in 1977. He then attended St. Louis University School of Medicine where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1981. He completed his residency in 1985 through the University of Illinois and successfully completed his boards in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Following residency, he moved to Casa Grande in 1985. Here he began his medical career at Cottonwood Medical Center, partnering with Douglas Parkin, MD and Robert Kull, DO. Additionally, over 30 years ago, Michael became the first Hospice Director in Casa Grande for RTA Hospice. He practiced medicine and continued to work as a Director of Hospice until his retirement earlier this year.
Aside from his dedication to practicing medicine and helping others, Michael loved spending time with his family and friends. Some of his favorite activities included spending time with his grandchildren, listening to and attending rock-n-roll concerts as well as watching and attending sporting events, he especially loved baseball and football. So, whenever you attend a rock concert or sporting event, know that he will be there, with you, in spirit!
Michael is survived by his wife of 35 years, Trisha, who he called the love of his life. He is also survived by his four children, Crystal, Matthew, Johnny, and Amber along with their spouses. His seven grandchildren Caleb, Lucy and Ruth Blakely, Gemma, Seyla and Pippa Fearn, and Grayson Ridge, who will fondly remember him as their “Grand Daddy-O.” His sister Jody (McAllister) and two brothers Paul and Jeff Ridge. He also had a special place in his heart for his nieces, Nina and Lola Chaudoin and Gina Venturelli, who gave him so much joy, care, and love throughout his life, especially during his final days. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Eunice “Judy” Ridge and his son Ryan.
A private family gathering will be held to celebrate his life. The family asks in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to Gentiva Hospice of Casa Grande
