Michael Lawrence "Mike" Stansell Sr

Michael L. Stansell Sr., affectionately known as Mike, age 62, departed this world peacefully on October 22, 2025. Born on January 25, 1963, Mike made an indelible impact on all who knew him. His journey through life was characterized by laughter, love, and a passion for the simple joys that life has to offer. Mike was a loving father and cherished friend. He is preceded in death by his beloved girlfriend of 22 years, Phyllis Davis, as well as his parents, Charles and Donna, two sisters, Kathy and Kimberly, and his son, Johnathon, brother in law Morgan and nephew Jeremy.
Despite these profound losses, Mike leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience through his surviving family. He is survived by his son, Michael Stansell Jr., and three daughters: Ashley Montez and husband Josh, Brittany Stansell and fiancé Matthew Peach, and Brenna Cox and husband Kenneth. He also embraced his role as a stepfather to Jed Davis and wife Natasha, Nathan Davis and wife Desiray, and stepdaughters Sable Garcia and Stephanie Gentry and husband Nathan. Mike was a proud brother, leaving behind Chuck Stansell and wife Patricia, Bob Tamplet and wife Donna, and sister Lisa Stansell Fulcher, alongside honorary brothers Tommy Bunting and wife Lynn and Jason West and wife Angie. He also brought joy to many with his 26 grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A proud graduate of Jersey Village High School, Class of 1981, Mike dedicated over 40 years to his craft as a journeyman electrician. His work was a testament to his dedication and commitment to his family and community. Beyond his professional achievements, Mike was known for his sense of humor and the warmth he brought to every room he entered. He loved a good fire and a cold beer, finding joy in reading books and enjoying shows like "The Good Wife" and "Blue Bloods."
In celebrating Mike's life, let us honor his own words, "Don't cry for me long, just build a fire and drink a beer." This reflects the essence of who he was-someone who cherished life, embraced laughter, and valued connections with loved ones.
