Michael A. Waters, of Mineville; Lakeland, FL; and Peekskill, passed away at CVPH Plattsburgh on November 11, 2021. Born in Peekskil, February 9, 1956, he was the son of the late Alexander and Joan (Anzovino) Waters.
Michael along with his wife Dawn (Chase) of 42 years raised three beautiful children, Christina (Corey Steigleman), Michael J. (Cheryl Sears) and Joanna N. Waters of Mineville. He is survived by his brother Jeffrey (Stephanie) Waters of Putnam Valley, and Peter (Theresa) Waters of Mahopac, and brother-in-law Michael Roth of Saranac, mother-in-law Pat Chase, brother-in-law Cliff Chase, sisters-in-law Debby Berry, PJ (Dave) Hunt, Toni (Jim) Pease, grandchildren Noah, Vincent, Colette, Oliver, and Gordon, and many, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Joanne (Waters) Roth, of Saranac, and father-in-law Cliff Chase of Peekskill.
Almost as much as Mike loved his family, he loved music! He could pick up any instrument and play it with ease after a few attempts, but Mike was most accomplished on percussion, especially on a drum set. His impeccable and innate sense of timing and rhythm began at age 4 when his parents saw their son tapping out a beat on different household objects and enrolled him in drum lessons.
Mike was also a prolific songwriter along with his wife, Dawn. A year into their marriage, Michael began a journey of faith with Jesus, and he and Dawn began to write songs about that journey. They would sing at churches, coffeehouses, and other events up and down the Hudson River Valley until they moved in 1987 to Lakeland, FL, where they continued to sing and play at New Life Assembly of God. In 1996 they moved to Mineville, where they attended Westport Bible Church and ministered music at Ticonderoga Assembly of God, where Mike also served on the church board for six years.
Mike loved the Adirondacks having spent many a summer frequenting Frontier Town in North Hudson with his family. Mike also loved to hunt, fish, do leatherwork, cook, and create delicious meals for his family and friends. Mike also had a great sense of humor delivering witty remarks and puns with great comedic timing.
A Celebration of Mike's Life will start at 2 pm with visitation and a service immediately following to take place Saturday, November 20, at First Assembly of God, Plattsburgh. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael's memory may be made to Ticonderoga Assembly of God for the Music Ministry or Security/Greeter Ministry, both of which Mike was part of.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court Street, Plattsburgh.
