Michael C. Wiggins

Michael Christopher Wiggins, 69, of South Windsor, beloved husband of 42 years to Mary (Patsky) Wiggins, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 29, 2025. He was born on October 9, 1956, in Charleston, SC, one of nine children to the late Pershing and Catherine (Delano) Wiggins.
Michael grew up in Hanahan, SC, and was a graduate of Hanahan High School, Class of 1974. Following high school Michael joined the Navy as part of the submarine service stationed in Hawaii where he proudly served his country for six years before his honorable discharge in 1980. After his time in the Navy he moved to Windsor, CT, where he met his wife, Mary. He then went to CPI to learn computer programming. During this time in the 80's Michael joined a start-up company to create Multi Mate, one of the first word processing softwares for the IBM PC. Eventually he went to college, first at MCC and then UConn earning his bachelor's degree in Marketing. Michael worked at Scan-Optics followed by Insurity where he retired as a director in 2022. Upon his retirement Michael enjoyed playing the ukulele, going antiquing with Mary, watercolor painting, creating designs for the 3D printer, and going to the movies every Friday morning.
In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by his son, Samuel Wiggins and his wife Megan of Tolland; his two grandsons, Liam and Elliot Wiggins; his siblings, David Wiggins and his wife Aggie, Donna Miller, Mary "Cathy" Madison and her husband Rick, Ann Marie Craig and her husband Norman, Peter Wiggins and his wife Dolly, Margaret Stanley and her husband Ulrich "Stan", Mary "Beth" Wiggins, and Carol Wiggins; many in-laws on the Patsky side of the family; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and their families; and his best friends Dan, John, Ed, and Howard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 11, 2025, beginning at 11 a.m. at St. Junipero Serra Parish – St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Rd., South Windsor. There will be no calling hours and burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
