Millie Ruth, a loving, albeit sometimes tough, mom to 3 boys, proud grandma and even prouder great grandma. After high school she went on to become a teacher because picking cotton was not for her. She spent nearly 50 years in the classroom, where she was known for her high standards, direct approach, and steady presence. She didn't sugarcoat, but she cared deeply-and her students knew it. She brought that same strength and commitment to her family, especially in supporting her grandchildren through school and life. Between raising boys and being "Mamaw" there wasn't much time left over. However, outside of the classroom she enjoyed her garden and her dogs. She was a dog lover her entire life. She would never think twice about taking one in. She was an excellent example of strength and unforgivably herself in all walks of life. Independent and full of character, Millie Ruth lived life on her terms.
Millie was born in Madison Parish but spent the latest part of her life in West Carroll Parish.
She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at the St. Francis Hospital in Monroe Louisiana.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Buford Dennis Pace and Millie Lewis Pace; a son Glenn Koppie Sr., a great grandson Jude Thomas, three brothers Buford Eugene Pace, John Dennis Pace and Oscar Leon Pace and a sister Dinah Bullock.
Millie is survived by 2 sons Gary Koppie and wife Eutonna and Greg Koppie and wife Michelle; 12 grandchildren Glen Koppie Jr., Kory Koppie, Kyle Koppie, Jennifer Scott, Jeremia Mize and wife Kasey, Ashley Johnson and husband Chris, Candice Murphy and husband Matt, Kody Koppie, Melanie Pierot and husband Nathan, Adam Herrington, Kaylin Herrington and Garrett Koppie.
She is also survived by 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer heartfelt thanks to her cousin Patricia Hawsey, whose steady love and regular visits brought Millie so much comfort in her final days. Your presence brightened her world in ways words can't fully express.
