Milton William Seaver, Jr, born September 17 1931 in Colchester Vt, Son of Milton Seaver Sr and Ruth (Myott) Seaver, passed away peacefully at age 93 Monday morning, June 23, surrounded by his family after a long illness at the Meadows in Rutland Vermont.
Milt is survived by his wife of 68 years Colleen Seaver, daughter Sharon, sons Robert and John and his precious grandchildren Michael, Daniel, Ashlee, Matthew and Rachel and his brother David. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John.
Milt was raised in Wallingford and attended Wallingford schools until high school and graduated from MSJ in Rutland, class of 1949.
He then enlisted in the military and served with the 43rd infantry division in Germany during the Korean war.
After his service he started his career with General Electric in Ludlow as a bench mechanic and worked his way up to become a master all around machinist. He transferred to the Rutland GE plant and ended his career as a Sr Engineer of Forge Technology. He retired after 34 years in 1987.
He married Colleen Kennedy July 14 1956 at St Patrick's church.
Milt was very active in Phil Hoff's campaign for Governor in 1962. After Phil Hoff was successfully elected he asked Milt and those who worked with him what they wanted. They told him they would really like the stretch of route 7 between Wallingford and Rutland improved. A few years later, construction began on that section of route 7 that made it into the beautiful stretch of highway it is today.
He was a lifelong devout member of St Patrick's Catholic church in Wallingford, VT.
He was also very active in many community groups including:
The American Legion Ralph H Picket post #52
Wallingford recreation committee
St Patrick's parish council
Founding member of the Mill River Athletic Booster Club
Wallingford Little League and Babe Ruth
Milt enjoyed family vacations at the ocean and lakes as well as trips to Yankee stadium or Fenway park the see the Yankees play the Red Sox.
Milt and Colleen also enjoyed their retired years enjoying warm winters in St Petersburg Florida. Milt was an avid golfer and played well into his 80's. He was also a big supporter of local sports, rarely missing his children's games.
The family would like to express our sincere thanks to the many medical and senior help organizations that have taken such great care of Milt in his final years including:

My condolences to Colleen, Sharon, Bob and John. I always looked up to Mr. Seaver. He was a "cool dad", except for that Yankee thing; he liked sports, he played golf, he had a good job at GE. I think he helped me get a summer job at GE in 1979. Colleen and Milt were very good friends to my parents for as long as I can remember. The last time I saw Milt was at my father's memorial service on a hot August day at Green Hill Cemetery in 2019.
