Monica M. Westerback

TOWNSEND: Monica (Marshall) Westerback, 88, of Townsend died Friday May 16, 2025 at her home.
Monica was a graduate of Leominster High in 1954. In 1957 she was a graduate of Leominster School of Nursing.
Monica is predeceased by her husband John R. Westerback.
She leaves her cat, Ginger, her daughters; Lois Westerback and Sara Machemer and her husband Jimi; granddaughter Lois J. Sullivan and her husband Michael, her cousins; Jackie Provencher and Julie Gauld; her nephews, Ken Pearson, Gary Pearson, Matt Pearson and her niece Pam Pearson to carry on.
From de-fuzzing peaches on the farm to telephone operator, registered nurse, (becoming supervising nurse at Groton Community Hospital and later office nurse for Dr. Charles T. Porter), EMT for Townsend, to Townsend Reserve Officer, where she became a certified rape investigator and also served as matron, police photographer, patrol detail officer, secretary and dispatcher and ended her multi careers dispatching at Groton P.D.
She was a formidable force. Once a friend put it "There was no stopping her."
In her spare time (if you can believe she had any) she volunteered for stuff. Stuffing envelopes at the Town Hall, explorer Scout Chaperone, assisting their training for CPR and first aide certificates. She also enjoyed helping her good friend Ellen Amadon by occasionally dispatching buses. Her other hobbies were shopping, sewing, reading and beading.
The family of Monica Westerback invites you to "sharing memories of Monica" Sunday July 13, 2025, noon time til the cows come home, an informal come and go as you please event where we hope to hear stories of Monica, we haven't heard yet at 37 West Elm Street, West Townsend.
In lieu of flowers Monica requested donations to be made to the Townsend Fire Department.
