Dear cousins,
Though we are unable to be with you, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of sorrow in the loss of Aunt Myrtle. May your loss be eased by memories of past good times. I can recall many pleasant and memorable visits to the home place with family as a youth.

I have been blessed to join Myrtle's family in January of 1992. I married her grandaughter then Donna Green. From day 1 Granny treated me as part of the family and showed me the love she had in her heart. From that day forward she has always been my Granny.
We enjoyed vacations with her and the family and I always enjoyed talking with her. I had the honor once to interview her and ask her about her life. After that day I always felt closer to her.
She was there for thee birth of all my kids and was always there for them as they grew. My oldest boy even gave her the nickname Big Granny when he was 2. The name stuck and all the grandchildren from then on caller her Big Granny. Even us older kids.
Big Granny, we will miss you here on earth, but I know you are home. I look forward to seeing you again so we can sit and talk again.
Love Always your extra grandson

Granny Myrtle was a unique and very loving person. In all honesty, I felt her to be my Granny too because she treated me as her own - the hugs, the advice and the punishments!! Yeah...I remember getting in trouble a time or two. I don't know if I ever told you this, Margie, but I got a phone call from her when we were in highschool. She informed me that YOU were going to be the best friend I could ever have, that a friendship like ours doesn't come along everyday and that I was going to mess that up if I didn't get my head on straight. She was very wise...
I love you all. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

I really only knew Miss Myrtle as "Big Grandma" and she was a very sweet woman. I enjoyed talking with her at Macey and Brodricks birthday parties over the years. There is no other love like a grandma's love and I know she will be dearly missed.

I want to tell you of a story between Granny and I.
I am married to Marjorie Green Phillips, we had been married about six to seven years at the time and Marjorie and I where heading to the ranch to see Granny. I called Granny in rout, we where getting close and she did not know we where coming. I told Granny I was passing through town and needed a place to stay for the night and wanted to know if it would be a problem it my girlfriend stayed over also. Well, let me tell you what I could feel the tension over the phone, so I didn't even give her the chance to talk before hanging up. Well, I arrived and when I walked in toting Marjorie in hand Myrtle seemed relieved. Then she cocked her head and raised her brow, then I was in trouble.
I will miss you Granny, I enjoyed every card game we played.
