Nancy I. Cassel, age 90, passed away on Monday morning, March 6, 2023. She was 90 years old. Nancy was born on June 8, 1932 to the late Carroll and Fanny (née Botfield) Pullen in
Gainesville, Florida. She was the wife to the late Franklin R. Cassel who passed away in 2016.
Nancy was born in
Gainesville, Florida. She lived there till age 5. Due to her Dad's job she was always moving. Eventually they settled in Oreland, P.A. where she graduated from Springfield High School. She then went on to work at the mortgage department in a Philadelphia bank for years until she had her first child in 1966 and became a stay at home mom. Nancy met her husband in Oreland through her sister who was dating his brother. They started dating while her future husband was stationed in Hawaii in the air force. Prior to that her husband Franklin was in the Korean War, and Nancy was in the U.S.O. during the Korean War.
Nancy married Franklin in 1960 having two beautiful children. Nancy said one of the happiest times in her life was having her children. She and her husband were wonderful parents and grandparents. She sung in the church choir, and taught Sunday School. She said she was so happy preparing Sunday School lessons with her husband. She loved supporting her children in everything. She went to all her daughters' concerts, basketball games, and softball games. Nancy loved her grandchildren and was always there for them. She was the most loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Nancy was married for 56 years until her husband passed away in 2016. Nancy always loved the Eagles, Phillies, and Gainesville Gators, because she was born there so she always liked their football team. She always loved going to
Ocean City, N.J. every summer. She loved and loves the Lord Jesus Christ. Now she is in His loving arms. Amen. She loved palm trees, the ocean, and the smell of the salt air at the seashore. She will be truly missed by her two children and all her grandchildren, and great granddaughter Hera Cassel. Her son Steven's oldest son Chris's daughter. She is only 4. Mom we love you so much. You were always there for everyone until you couldn't and I was there for you and Dad. Then you're grandchildren and son in law helped after I got hurt. We will never forget you. See you and Dad in heaven. We love you mom.
Nancy is survived by her children: Steven C. Cassel, Carol Ann Hayman (Brad), her grandchildren: Samantha, Brad, Justin, Kyle, Chris, Ariel, Gabriala, René, Zackre, and one great grandchild, Hera. Nancy was the sister to the late Florence Cassel.
Relatives and friends are invited to Nancy's Life Celebration on Monday, March 13, 2023 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the Craft-Givnish Life Celebration Home, 1801 Old York Rd. Abington, PA 19001 followed by her funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park. Family services are entrusted under the care of the Craft-Givnish Life Celebration Home, 215-659-2000.
