Nancy Annette Crisp, 86, of San Angelo, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2022. Nancy will be missed, but we are rejoicing that she is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and will no longer be suffering in pain. Nancy was born on March 3, 1936, in San Angelo, to Virgina Rooney Probst and James Moore. Nancy also had a beloved step-father Murry Probst. Nancy attended school in Mertzon as a young girl, attended High School in Menard, Texas and graduated from Lake View High School.
Nancy had a long banking career and retired from Central National Bank (CNB) as Assistant Vice President, which is now Wells Fargo. Following her retirement from CNB Nancy went on to work for her good friend and former boss of CNB Glen Kerby at Edward Jones. Nancy never met a stranger and loved people. Even when her body gave out and she was in pain she managed to go and visit new arrivals at Lyndale in her scooter chair to make them feel welcome to Lyndale. She never wanted anyone to feel out of place or alone. I guess you could say she had a big heart. She was most proud of being named an Ambassador at Lyndale after only living there three months.
Nancy married the love her life Travis Crisp on April 16, 1955, and they were married for 55 years at the time of his death on April 11, 2011. Nancy is preceded in death by her husband Travis, her mother Virginia Rooney Probst, her father James Moore, step-father Murry Probst, her sister Susan Probst, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carole and Gerald Crisp and mother-in-law and father-in-law Annie and Leonard Crisp.
She is survived by her daughter Reneé Butts and husband Ted; Grandson Trevor Butts and wife Jennifer; Grand-daughter Courtney Paiz and husband Justin; Great-Grandchildren Jaelyn and Blake Paiz and Nathanel Butts. She is also survived by niece Becky Buck and husband Fred; nephew Mark Crisp and wife Carrie.
Nancy leaves behind many special cousins Jim Turney, Ann Peeler, Camille Meadows, Kathy Mitchell, Jonnie Caldwell, Marilyn Alexander and a very good friend of the family Ginny Morgan and her numerous friends at Lyndale. Nancy also leaves her devoted caregiver/friend Mandy Sosa, along with all of Lyndale Senior Living staff who took excellent care of her and were like family to her. There are no words to describe how much Lyndale tenants and staff workers have meant to Nancy and Reneé.
She had extended family that checked on her regularly and considered her like a mother and they are Terry and Reneé Brown; Rusha and Chuck Moneke; and Jaci and Corey Wright.
A huge thank you to Shannon Hospital ER and 4-North and 4-South that took care of her every time she was admitted. To the great health care professionals that showed her great patience and compassion; Dr. Sarah Burkes, Dr. Herman Zarate, Rachel Reyes, MSN, APRN, Lisa Vannoy, APRN, MSN, FNP-C, Dr. Chris Haddad and Dr. Melissa Aleta.
The short time Nancy was in Hospice care, Concho Hearts Hospice assisted the family and helped Nancy and Reneé feel very at ease about what lay ahead and for that we thank them so very much for their empathy and Christian love to all of us.
Nancy will be available for viewing on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Harper Funeral Home all day for anyone that would like to go by and sign her book. A private family graveside service will be conducted by Nancy's great-nephew Pastor Ryan Buck of Immanuel Baptist Church in Menard. She will be laid to rest next to her high school sweetheart.
Memorials can be made to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4464 Houston, Texas 77210-4464; Pregnancy Help Center, 2525 Sherwood Way, San Angelo, Texas 76901; or Concho Hearts Hospice of San Angelo.
