Nancy Jane Hoyl, 80, went to be with our Lord, Tuesday, October 22, 2024 in Decatur.
Funeral service is 11:30 AM Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 10-11 AM before the service at the funeral home.
Gerre Joiner will officiate. Pallbearers will include Robert Faulkner, Dakota Faulkner, Randy Haire Sr., Randy Haire Jr., Blake Haire and Dustin Haire.
Nancy was born April 25, 1944 in Decatur to Ralph L. and Dale Garrison Hoyl. She was raised in Decatur and was a graduate of Decatur High School in 1962. She graduated at the top of her class and was named Miss DHS. Nancy graduated from North Texas State University with a degree in business administration in 1966.
Nancy was very active in high school both in organizations and sports. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council and Future Business Leaders of America, all of which she held various officer positions in throughout her H.S. years. She was on the girls' softball, volleyball and basketball teams during her tenure and was a band majorette. Her favorite was basketball where she was co-captain and named "most valuable player" in her senior year.
Nancy was a high school business teacher for more than ten years. She loved foreign travel and taught 2 years in the U.S. Air Force American High School in Kaiserslautern Germany. Nancy was a member at the First Baptist Church of Decatur.
Nancy was kind, loving, big hearted and had a great sense of humor. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sue Hoyl Brady; nephew, Christopher Howard; and niece, Tracy Howard. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her nieces, Sally Santimaw and Wendy Divita, several great nieces, nephews and cousins.
