Nancy Rae Meharg, age 74, passed away on July 24, 2023, in Fort Gratiot, Michigan.
She was born on March 13, 1949, in Port Huron, Michigan to parents Raymond and Patricia Lange.
Nancy was employed at General Mills Corp. in both Minneapolis, Minnesota and Dallas, Texas as an administrative assistant for many years. She retired when leaving Texas in 1998 and became instrumental in many business ventures with her husband during her retirement years. Nothing phased her and her determination for success continuously remained unaltered.
Nancy dedicated her life to her treasured family and was blessed to have called St Louis, Minneapolis, Dallas, Florida, and Port Huron all her home throughout her journey. She loved traveling, winters spent in sunny Florida, her family dogs, and walking daily for 40 years. Nancy found great joy in being on the water, from skiing as a child to boating on Lake Huron later in life. Her favorite boat, she always said, was her "sanity" in life. That later evolved into the vessel's name, "Nansanity". Nancy gave her all in everything she did in life and she never stopped working for what she held dear to her heart. On February 22, 2023, she dropped her phone while walking with friends which revealed the start of a brain problem. Nancy was brave and courageous, even during her recent battle with brain cancer.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Lyle; children, Steve and Shannon Harwood of Rockingham, North Carolina, Kimberly and Dr. Daniel Peterson of Austin, Texas, Kevin and Theresa Meharg of Port Huron, Michigan, and Krystal and Jimmy Dunn of Port Huron, Michigan; grandchildren, Lily Peterson, Mitchell and Marshal Meharg, JD and Zachary Dunn, and Skylar, Mollie Rae and Spencer Harwood; beloved sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Howard Ferns and sister-in-law, Denise Lange.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, David Lange.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on "Sunday-Funday," July 30, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at The Port Huron Yacht Club, 212 Quay Street, Port Huron, Michigan. Please join us in celebrating Nan's last voyage.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to The Blue Water Area Humane Society or a cancer research organization of the donor's choice, in memory of Nancy.
Arrangements were entrusted to Grace Memorial - Smith Chapel, 1525 Hancock Street, Port Huron, Michigan.
