Nancy Wierzba Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home - Wittenberg on Dec. 30, 2025.
Nancy Jean Wierzba, age 87, of Weston, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Pride TLC, under the loving care of her family and St. Croix Hospice.
Nancy was born on November 28, 1938, in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Clayton and Eleanor (Linley) Fitzgerald. She was part of the second graduating class of Newman High School in Wausau. On August 24, 1957, Nancy was united in marriage to Eugene Wierzba at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wausau. He survives.
Nancy was a devoted homemaker whose home was always filled with love. She found great joy in cooking, baking, vegetable and flower gardening, and canning. Above all, she cherished being a mother and raising her children, and she often lovingly cared for other children as well.
A talented, self-taught seamstress, Nancy sewed clothing for her family, vestments for her son and patches on uniforms for the policemen, spending many happy hours in her sewing room creating beautiful items for those she loved. She also enjoyed cross-stitching, hand embroidery, and reading. Nancy was an active and faithful member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Weston, and her faith was the cornerstone of her life.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Eugene Wierzba; her children, Kenneth (Phyllis) Wierzba, Jeffery (Lois) Wierzba, Kelly Fennell, David (Barb) Wierzba, Father Alan Wierzba, and Douglas (Beata) Wierzba; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Margaret "Peggy" (Darrell) Fritz and Virginia "Ginny" Vanwormer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Dawn Marie Meinelt; and a son-in-law, Mark Fennell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Weston. The Most Reverend Gerard W. Battersby, Reverend Alan Wierzba, and Reverend Jerome Patric will concelebrate. A private family burial will take place in the Spring at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Kronenwetter. Visitation will take place at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
