Nicholas James Alexander, 46, of John Day, Oregon, passed away November 9, 2024, following a car accident. He was born on March 13, 1978 in Bend, Oregon to parents Kent and Sara Alexander. He grew up in Madras, Oregon. He was a tough, fearless little cowboy who was always ready for an adventure. Nick loved competing in rodeo, 4-H and all things fast and dangerous. He lived life to the fullest.
In 2021 he moved to John Day, where he started his successful business, Barnwood Ventures. There he sold reclaimed lumber and the many unique treasures he salvaged from the countless barns he dismantled. He meticulously dismantled the barns to reclaim the most material possible while leaving a perfectly clean job site when complete. This won him many referrals for new jobs all over the state. He met so many people along the way and everyone became his friend.
You can bet if he was travelling through your town and you were his friend or family, he would stop to visit. Perhaps he would fix your lawn mower or whatever you needed. That was Nicholas. Always helping someone.
He leaves behind his mom and dad, sister Brooke (John) Driehuis. His beloved young daughters Emma and Enzie. His nieces Allison and Kacey. He had many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be held on November 21st at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in John Day. Please bring your stories and memories of Nicholas, which can be told by you or read by the pastor.
In lieu of flowers, please give to The Relief Angels (5302 Valleywood Dr. Klamath Falls, 97603) or First Baptist Church in John Day (c/o Pastor Jesse Gosnell, 300 W. Main St. John Day, OR 97845). Nicholas was the Grant County Coordinator with Relief Angels and worked tirelessly to help the victims of fires and other natural disasters. He loved attending services at the First Baptist Church and had a community of friends there.
