Adored son and friend to all who knew him, Nicholas Conrad Fassett, 25, left this world and joined his beloved Gommy, Papa and Poppy in heaven on April 26, 2025.
Born April 7, 2000 to his loving and devoted parents, Conrad and Paula (Finnegan) Fassett, Nick graduated from Franklin Academy in 2018 and North Country Community College with an Associate of Arts degree in 2020. Besides his parents, he is survived by his brother and best friend, Tim Fassett, and his Nana, Betty Fassett. He is also survived by his aunts, Candy (Bradley) Hyde, Cindy Fisher, Sharon Niles, Tammy (Keith) McDonald, Lisa (Thomas) O'Neil, Jennifer (Alfred) Hollis and his uncle, Thomas (Barbara) Finnegan, and many cousins.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Conrad Fassett, his maternal grandmother, Dawn Finnegan, his maternal grandfather, John Finnegan, and an uncle, Lonnie Fisher.
A four-year battle with cancer may have affected his body, but Nick's spirit was never altered. He remained the same gentle, kind and considerate person he always was throughout his illness.
Nick loved life and among his favorite things were spending time with his family and his dogs, Daisy and Teddy. He was a gifted writer and a knowledgeable historian, having an encyclopedic knowledge of the presidents.
He loved a good hamburger, a tall glass of milk, controlling the car radio, and building his vast collection of video games and memorabilia. He enjoyed wearing bright, bold Hawaiian shirts to chemotherapy. The nurses delighted in seeing what kind of shirt he was wearing each time, starting each session with joy and laughter. That was Nick. He brought joy and laughter to others even when he was feeling ill. He never failed to thank every nurse, doctor and hospital worker who took care of him. He always thought of others first.
Nick has left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His family is so grateful for the time they had with this truly exceptional human being. His family will miss his beautiful old soul every day for the rest of their lives.
His family is also grateful for the close bonds they formed with the compassionate healthcare professionals at Wilmot Cancer Center and the caring assistance of the team at Hope Lodge in Rochester.
Calling hours will be held at St. Mary Murphy-Wilcox Funeral home in Malone on Saturday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A celebration of Nick's life will immediately follow at the Malone Lodge of Elks.
In lieu of flowers, the Fassett family would appreciate donations to American Cancer Society Hope Lodge Rochester, 1120 South Goodman Street Rochester, New York, 14620.
