Nita Jean Cordray (nee Payne) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, January 31, 2025 at the age of 78.
Devoted wife of 47 years to the late Ralph Cordray; loving mother of Arnold (Gloria) Cordray, Brenda (Robert) James, the late Vicki (Dennis - surviving) Wakefield, Mickey (Ted) Moore, Terry (Melba) Cordray, Shirley (Eddie) Taylor, Tanya Cordray, James Cordray, and Mark (Keri) Cordray; dear grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother; beloved daughter of the late Orville and Dorothy Payne; admired sister of Paul (Wanda) Payne, the late Jimmy (Sandy) Payne, and the late David (Joanie - surviving) Payne; dearest friend "sister" of Glenda McNeely; aunt, cousin, and friend to many.
Nita was a proud Christian woman and prayer warrior. Her deep faith in the Lord guided her throughout her life, and she was a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew her. Nita had a great heart, often sending thoughtful cards to brighten others' days. She was an amazing cook and never let anyone leave her home hungry. She had an eye for taking pictures and took pride in her photos. She found joy in traveling to Branson and, above all, cherished spending time with her family. Her unwavering commitment to prayer and her love for the Lord will be remembered by all who were blessed to know her. Nita's kindness, faith, and love will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oasis Resource Center - Troy, MO.
