Norma Jean Bush

Norma Jean Bush, 80, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 13, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Born in Fulton, Missouri, on January 31, 1945, Norma was the daughter of the late Samuel and Rebecca (Barnes Loyd) Dawson.
She built a long and fulfilling career with Shelter Insurance, where she formed lifelong friendships that remained close to her heart long after retirement.
Norma was an avid reader who found joy in quiet days at home with a good book, her loyal pets by her side, and the beauty of nature just outside her window. Her true happiness, however, came from time spent with her family. Whether sharing stories around the table, spoiling her nieces and nephews, or preparing one of her legendary family dishes or desserts Norma expressed her love through the care and comfort she gave others. Her homemade macaroni and cheese, pies, and cakes made from scratch were family favorites and symbols of the warmth she brought to every gathering.
Norma is survived by her beloved son, Wayne Bush; her sisters-in-law: Kate Dawson; Jean Dawson; Barbara Shaon, and several cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Robert Bush, and her five siblings: William Dawson, Mary Jane Phillippe, Thomas Dawson, Ronald Dawson, and David Dawson.
Funeral services will be held at Maupin Funeral Home on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 11:00 am with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Interment will be held at Prairie Chapel Cemetery.

Norma's quiet spirit, inner strength and devotion to those she loved will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
