Norma Evelyn Kemmis, 91, of Washington, IN passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side early Monday morning November 11, 2024. She was born October 13, 1933, to the late Lyndon P. Walls and Lola (Burton ) Walls. She was married to Robert O. Kemmis. She was born a very frail baby and told stories of how her dad was afraid to carry her. He was a big man, she was five pounds, so he would put her on a pillow to carry her. She was a graduate of Barr Reeve and told stories of her school friends and how it was a one room school house. Even though she was a a frail tiny baby she grew to have 4 children. She retired from Hooks in 1994. She was able to live her retirement years comfortably with her daughter, Nancy, and son in law, Keith. Keith was known to spoil her by bringing home flowers home for his wife, Nancy, and flowers for Norma as well.
In her free time, Norma enjoyed reading, keeping journals, watching crime shows, and watching the birds on the feeders until her eyesight went away. She will be greatly missed by everyone she leaves behind.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents Lyndon and Lola Walls; husband Robert O. Kemmis; several siblings; and son in law Keith Miller.
She is survived by her children Robert G. (Lindy) Kemmis, Nancy Miller, George Kemmis, and Lola Kemmis; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
