Norman Sabroe (87), of Grants, NM, passed away on November 25, 2023, surrounded by his family and
friends of whom were present in-person and in-prayer.
Norman was born on February 13, 1936, to father, Axel Sabroe, and mother, Ann Sabroe, in Brooklyn,
NY. As a young adult, he joined the United States Marine Corps and moved to San Diego, CA, where he
was stationed at Camp Pendleton. Thereafter, he worked for Familian Pipe & Supply and Agricultural
Supplies. He met his wife, Cecilia, and the two married in November 1970. After later moving to Grants,
NM, Norman worked for Miller Supply and eventually transferred to and retired from the NM Federal
Bureau of Prisons where he was employed as a Correctional Officer.
Norman was predeceased by his father, Axel; mother, Ann; daughter-in-law, Deborah Sabroe; and son-
in-law, Raul Martinez Sr. He is survived by his beloved brothers, Ralph (wife, Barbara) and Tomas
(Eleanor), and his children: daughter, Denise Martinez; son, Wayne Sabroe; daughter, Michelle Sabroe;
son, Michael Sabroe Perez (wife, Janel); daughter, Devon Perez; daughter, Lucero Sabroe Garcia; and
daughter, Gabriella Sabroe. Norman was also the proud grandparent of 18, great-grandparent of 25, and
great-great-grandparent of 2. His sweet charm, kind smile, and gentle heart will be deeply missed by all.
Please join the family in celebrating Norman’s memory and praying for eternal life in Heaven. Services
will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church on December 22, 2023; rosary at 9:30 a.m. and funeral
mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial services will immediately follow at San Rafael cemetery, and a reception will
be held at the American Legion Post 80 (121 3rd St).
