Barbara E. Sabroe, 87, of Cream Ridge passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Sabroe was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Valomar and Ellen Sandstrom. She was a former resident of Manalapan Township. She resided in Grants, New Mexico in 2002 before returning to New Jersey in 2020.
She was a registered nurse at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge Township before her retirement.
She was a communicant of St. Thomas More Church, Manalapan where she served as a religious education teacher.
Barbara was a member of the Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad and was a regular standby responder for the squad at Manalapan High School, where she also assisted in recreational soccer and football leagues. She was a member of the Red Hat Society of Grants, New Mexico.
Her first husband, Michael Kane, died in 1993. She was also predeceased by a son, Kevin Kane, in 2016, a brother, Thomas Sandstrom, and a sister, Valerie Kenney.
Surviving are her husband, Ralph J. Sabroe; two sons, Michael Kane, daughter-in-law, Eileen Cashman Kane, and Brian Kane and his wife Patty; and her grandchildren, Shannon, Sean, Theresa, Mary, Michael, Christopher, Erin, Emma, and Eli; and her stepsons, Eric and his wife Rosalie, Daniel, and Andrew; and many nieces and nephews in New Jersey and New Mexico.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday March 14th from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Church, 186 Gordons Corner Road, Manalapan on Friday, March 15th at 10 a.m. Memorial donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN would be appreciated.
