Pamela Ann Matthews

Pamela Ann Matthews, 56 passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 4th, 2022. She was born in Hartford, CT on June 18th, 1965, to the late Vernon Matthews Sr and Rose Snelling (Smith).
She attended Fred D. Wish Elementary, Lewis Fox Middle School and graduated from Weaver High School in 1983. She worked for Church's Chicken, Convenant Insurance Company, Edart Trucking and then she finally found her calling when she received her CNA certificate in 2000. She's been taking care of people ever since.
Pamela was a lifelong resident of Hartford and grew up in Stowe Village. She was very popular and loved by many. Loud, unique, funny and had the biggest heart for anyone she came in contact with. Had a heart like no other, was known for being small but MIGHTY!!! She didn't have a problem defending herself or her loved ones. Always very family oriented, she was everyone's BABY GIRLLLL!!! She held her family and friends down, kept everyone laughing and together. Her loyal character, personality and genuine soul was unmatched. Pamela loved the kids. She genuinely raised all her great nieces and nephews, even taught them how to walk. She had a very special bond with ALL of them and that's something that can't be replaced.
Pamela would help out anyone in a jam, she would give her shirt off her back and her last dollar. She knew how to make a dollar out of fifteen cents. She was a HUSTLER BABYYY, got to her bag, handled her business and took care of all her loved ones.
Pamela was told she couldn't have children but a cold and a doctor's visit turned out to be her miracle baby Tatyana. She loved and cherished her so much. Tatyana was her pride and joy, her best friend, her P.I.C, her EVERYTHING!!! She was so excited to announce her baby's graduation would be happening two days after her 57th birthday this year. Pamela was so proud of Tatyana, all her accomplishments and hard work. They were inseparable!! They loved to laugh, travel and eat together. Her favorite dish was salmon, mashed potatoes and broccoli. They've traveled to Florida, North Carolina and Atlanta. She was Tatyana's biggest fan!!!
Pamela leaves a legacy and her memory will live on through her one and only child Tatyana Matthews, her fiancé and lifelong partner and soulmate of 20 years Sydney (Terry) Mark, four sisters Debra and Renee Matthews, Dana Geter and LaShonne Bolton, two brothers Vernon Matthews Sr wife Sharlene, Aaron Compton Sr wife Sabrina, niece and 2nd daughter Tinaka Dailey, nieces Danesha (Shay) Dailey, Latoya Matthews, Racquel Matthews husband Ryan, Kayla Walker husband Abbey, Brandy, Shenique, Emily, Elana Compton, nephews Russell (Deedeeboo) Dailey Jr, Vernon Matthews III, Jonathan Geter and Aaron Compton Sr, three step children Terrell Mark, Symphonie Stringer and Teri Lollar, mother in law Gloria Mark, grandchildren Isaiah Wilson, Derrick Guy Jr and Dallas Guy, Aunts Rufenia Greene husband Richard, Margaret Murray and Iris Matthews, Uncles Derrick Matthews, god daughter Nikkia Collins, Best Friends Tanya Davis, Tracy Whitfield, Sherry Powell and Belinda Thompson. Host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and a army of devoted friends and loved ones.
She was predeceased by both her parents, step father Benny Smith, sister Carla Williams, niece Alexandra Geter and great niece Reign Price, maternal grandparents Ola-Mae Snelling and Frank Snelling, paternal grandparents Georgiana (Countryman) Matthews-Bey and Francis Matthews, uncles Dennis, Derrell and Frank Matthews, James and Richard Snelling and Earl Murray.
