Patricia A. (Pat) McLain, 93, died March 1, 2022 in Sarasota FL. She was born March 16, 1929 in Buffalo NY, grew up in Pittsburgh PA, and attended Tufts University, Boston MA.
She is survived by her daughters, Wendy Channell, Sarah Santolli, and Marion Kathleen (Kathy) McLain, her son John McLain, Jr, her half-sisters Laurie Pass and Margaret O'Connor, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband, John H. (Jack) McLain, retired Army Brigadier General, who died in 2003.
Pat and her husband Jack moved to Sarasota in 1986 and were devoted supporters of the Sarasota Military Officers Association and its education and scholarship programs with the Booker High School and area Junior ROTC's. In 2009, Pat helped to raise money for the construction of a rappelling tower for JROTC, and to celebrate her 80th birthday, she rappelled down the tower herself.
Memorial services will be conducted graveside at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia, date to be determined. For more information, contact Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Sarasota.
