Patrick Jewell Hughes, Jr,, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, in Springfield, Virginia. Born in Stuart, Virginia, Patrick lived a life defined by service, intellect, and devotion to family.

Patrick enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he earned a degree in physics from Miami University of Ohio. Over the course of a distinguished 22-year military career, he served as a test pilot and rose to the rank of Major. His service was marked by courage, precision, and a deep commitment to his country. Following his retirement from the Marines, Patrick continued to serve the nation as a financial analyst in the defense contracting sector, applying his analytical mind and strategic insight to critical missions.

He was born to the late Patrick Jewell Hughes, Sr. and Monnie Pendleton Hughes, and was preceded in death by his sister, Treva Phillips. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Diana Grubb Hughes; his children Patrick Hughes III (Heather) of Williamsport, Maryland; Christopher Hughes (Helen) of Manassas, Virginia; and Kimberly Lewis (Russell) of Livingston, Montana. He was a devoted grandfather to five cherished grandchildren: Christopher, Maggie, Ashley, Sarah, and Mason. He is also survived by his sister Beverly Siler and his brother Kenneth Hughes.

Known for his quiet strength and generous spirit, Patrick found joy in the simple pleasures of life-especially time spent with his grandchildren, long days on the golf course, and the serenity of the outdoors. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the lives he touched, and the love he gave so freely.

A private memorial service was held by the family.
